This poem was birthed out of the pain for one mother to another due to the unexpected tragedy that occurred with her daughter. My heart hurt as if it was my daughter. I understood the closeness that they shared. I understood the discipline that she imposed. I understand the inspiration that she gave her daughter to excel. I understood a mother’s love. I wrote this piece to acknowledge how our Saviour still reigns.
DAYLIGHT
Heaven’s gates swing wide when He calls his children to His eternal side.
Though I do not know exactly how you feel,
My heart mourns, because I know the love that you shared.
Though I do not know the brevity of pain that grips your wound,
I do know the birth of what we call our own.
Though I do not know the ebbs and lows that you face,
I do know that the joy of the Lord is our strength.
Though I am incapable of whipping away every pain filled tear,
I do know that tears of joy and hope will prevail.
Though I am not physically present to catch you each time you fall,
I am here to lift you up and to pray without ceasing for the hands of Our Father to carry you when you are unable.
Though I did not die on the cross, fight Satan, resurrect, and ascend to heaven,
I know Jesus did and He can restore all that we have lost
And that He abundantly gives new life to everything.
Though my life has been filled with much pain, but none such as this…
I do know that when we feel at our worst,
He continues to bring us His best, gives us His best, and provides us His best;
He heals like no other, shields like no other, calls our name like no other, holds us like no other,
And most of all He continues to love us like no other.
There will come a time when the earth will shine the brightest you have ever known.
Your spirit will be overwhelmed with joy and the haziness will no longer exist.
This is your DAYLIGHT forevermore.

Daylight ;It’s sad, but well written. It reminds me of some of the Blues singers, with the emotion, like Billie Holiday.
