Divorced and I remember how the emotions of this occurrence was overwhelmingly draining. I wondered how can such beauty end up being so much pain? I wondered when will it all end. Shortly after the divorce I stood up taller and determined that I was living a new life; one that I embraced with love. I realized that the appreciation for one another was no longer balanced. I wrote this poem to salute the acceptance of change for the better.
HAPPINESS SET FREE
I saw an old house as being beautifully aged
You saw the same house as worn and useless
I saw timely wisdom inside of the old house
You saw cracked paint and dull hardwood
I saw a solid foundation, restoration, crown molding, colorful painting, inspiration and creativeness
You saw hopelessness, irreparable damages, hard work, disdain, fruitless and dissatisfaction
Since your happiness is in my release
I sign over to you, your divorce decree
Now you are free to live without me and to satisfy yourself however you please
This old house with solid foundation, who beautifully ages, with full restoration from creative inspiration has new crown molding and colorful painting
