I got on the elevator one morning at my place of employment and greet everyone  by saying, “Good morning”.  No one said a word.  Another person entered the elevator and that person did the same as I and the people on the elevator said, “Good morning”.  One more person got on the elevator before my floor and did the same as the previous person and the people on the elevator said, “Good morning”.  The next floor was mine and I exited and turned and faced everyone on the elevator before it closed and I said, ” Have a wonderful day”.  Guess what? No one said a word.  I was the only race not in multiples on the elevator.

COLORLESS

People, People!

Don’t you know,

You have to look not only at my color to see much, much mo!

You placed me in a race and made me a class

And you say,

“I am causing you trouble accepting the truth about your ancestor’s past.”

My color blocks your vision in many situations

Hold you bondage by placing limitations on a color like me.

You closed yourself to live,

To dream,

To grow,

Because you are too busy watching who is doing what for me;

Just because you see color and not me.
